June 3, 2024
Dear Alum,

We had 72 Aquinians at the TAT today for our June 3, 2024, luncheon. Since the May luncheon we lost 3 alumni. Father Stephen Alcott, O.P., led us as in prayer for the deceased.

Today was Father Stephen Alcott’s last Aquinas luncheon because of his transfer to St. Barnabas Parish, Bellmore NY. We presented Father Alcott with a certificate containing the following sentiment:

All Aquinas Alumni offer their sincerest thanks to Father Stephen Alcott, O.P. for being our chaplain extraordinaire from 2016 until June 2024. During that period, you generously gave of your time to lead us in prayer at our monthly luncheons, offered Masses for our recently deceased alumni, visited our sick and dying, and showed your interest and support for our aging organization. We wish you well as you take on your new assignment as pastor of St. Barnabas Parish in Bellmore New York. Please remember us fondly, as we will certainly remember you.

Father Stephen Dominic Hayes, O.P, Prior of the Dominican Community was also in attendance. He will see that our Mass requests going forward will be said by one of the Friars at St. Patrick’s.

Our 50/50 winners were John Allen, class of 1965, and Jim Underwood class of 1965a. Jim very generously donated his winnings to the Alumni Association.

All alumni in attendance not having an Aquinas Forever hat and desiring one was given a hat thanks to the generosity of Dennis Doyle, class of 1961. Look for pictures of those in attendance wearing their hats soon on the webpage (www.columbusaquinas.com).

Our next luncheon will be Monday August 5, 2024, at the T.A.T.

Hope to see everyone at the August luncheon.

Lou Nobile, class of 1957
