Aquinas College High School
September 13, 2021
We had 75 alumni attending our luncheon today at St. Charles. Principal Jim Lower, Alumni Director Lou Fabro, and Development Officer Dan Tarpy did a great job of making us feel welcome. Marianne and Michelle of the T.A.T. catered a great lunch.
We prayed for the 5 alumni who died since the August 2nd luncheon and 3 alumni who are ill. We were able to pay out 3 places totaling $350 in our 50-50 drawing. Vito Checchio , class of 1950, was the big winner.
Principal Jim Lower told us that Catholic education is alive and well, and that the conservative values that we were taught at Aquinas are similarly being taught at St. Charles and the other Diocesan schools.
Joining us for lunch were 8 St. Charles students who are recipients of a Father Smith scholarship.
Larry Redmond, class of 1958 attended his first luncheon. After retiring from the Army, he has been living in Florida. Larry achieved the rank of Colonel and served in the 101st Airborne Division among others. He wrote a book entitled “A Dusty Boot Soldier Remembers”. He signed and gave several copies to our alumni in attendance. I have read it and found it very entertaining. If you like to read it is very reasonably priced at Amazon.
Our next and last luncheon for 2021 will be at the T.A.T. on Monday, October 4, 2021. Hope to see you there.
